From Disney to the Kennedy Center, to Halloweens, red carpets, home and family life, and his impact with fans in and out of the spotlight, this unique and highly personal collection of portraits by Laura Johansen chronicles the past near-decade of adventures with Dick Van Dyke, and the beauty and magic he continues to bring to the world each day.

“Her photographs are pure artwork, almost like paintings” says Mr Van Dyke, of his work with Ms Johansen over the past near-decade. His wife, Arlene Van Dyke agrees, “Laura is a master of shadow and light and always capturing the moment!” Australian-born Laura Johansen first met Dick and Arlene Van Dyke in 2015, by happenstance, when she took some photos of the Van Dykes at a fan art exhibit. They hit it off immediately and Ms Johansen was invited to join their team as Dick Van Dyke’s personal photographer, capturing such stunningly special moments in and out of the spotlight of one of the world’s most beloved and treasured legends.
“I’m so extremely honoured to be taken into their fold, that they value my special type of artwork, and trust me and my photographic eye to bring a little extra magic to their story.” says Ms Johansen. “It isn’t every day a global icon like Dick Van Dyke asks you to come along and join in his whimsical adventures! Oh, and add a little extra whimsy with your camera!”

Admission is free, there’ll be a panel discussion, exclusive vendors, light refreshments and musical entertainment provided, as well as some very special kick-off events for Dick Van Dyke’s upcoming 98th birthday!

Dick Van Dyke: Moments In Time, Portraits By Laura Johansen will be on display from November 20 - January 5, 2024, and open Monday-Friday, from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road).
